On a site area of approximately 4,165 m², ZIMA, with STRABAG serving as general contractor, is constructing an eight-story building with a usable floor area of around 10,500 m². The project includes a variety of 1- to 5-bedroom apartments, 100 parking spaces, 300 bicycle parking spaces, 30 cargo bike parking spaces, as well as additional storage rooms, rooftop gardens, and a fitness room. The investment volume amounts to approximately 70 million euros. “With today’s groundbreaking ceremony, we are celebrating an important milestone for Roomeo. The project takes into account a wide variety of life stages, offers an attractive home, and creates much-needed living space in Donaustadt in light of the shrinking supply of new construction. We are pleased to now officially begin construction and thus make a further contribution to urban development,” said Erwin Brauchart, Managing Director of ZIMA Vienna. Even before construction began, it was clear how attractive Roomeo’s overall concept is: nearly half of the apartments have already been sold.
Urban living for every stage of life
With Roomeo, ZIMA is making a strong statement in favor of modern, family-friendly, and flexible living in Vienna-Donaustadt. The mix of apartments ranges from compact 1- to 4-room units for singles, couples, and investors to spacious 3- to 5-room family apartments (30–108 m²). In the specially designed WohnenPlus apartments, living can be more: separate work areas or guest rooms make these units attractive for contemporary living and working styles. Spacious private open areas as well as rooftop gardens, additional storage rooms, balcony solar panels in some units, and an in-house fitness room ensure that the project can adapt to a variety of needs. “The team and I are extremely proud and happy that construction has begun on Roomeo. Over 60 satisfied buyers have already placed their trust in us to realize their new homes. Together with our partners—STRABAG as the general contractor, Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg as the financing partner, and the City of Vienna as a driving force for high-quality housing—our goal is to create living spaces that combine comfort, functionality, and quality of life,” said Thomas Thaler, Site Manager at ZIMA Vienna, regarding the construction project.
Excellent transportation links, prime location
The location in Vienna’s Donaustadt district is another plus: Ladinigpark is right nearby. Local recreational areas such as the Alte Donau and Donauinsel, as well as the Kagraner Platz U1 station, are just a short distance away. Short distances to local shops, sports clubs, and educational institutions make daily life convenient and hassle-free.
A Boost for Donaustadt
Donaustadtremains one of Vienna’s fastest-growing districts. The Roomeo project not only creates much-needed housing but also strengthens urban development through its high-quality construction and value-retaining residential concept. “Roomeo is creating much-needed housing. The presence here today of so many satisfied Donaustadt residents shows how construction projects can positively impact the quality of life in our district—true to Roomeo’s motto: ‘Love at first square meter,’” explains Ernst Nevrivy, District Mayor of the 22nd District.
A Strong Partner for Construction
For the construction work, ZIMA relies on its long-standing partnership with STRABAG. “Roomeo stands for modern living characterized by high quality and sustainability. Together with ZIMA, we, as the general contractor, ensure efficient and technically sophisticated construction through to completion—with the goal of creating living space that retains its value over the long term,” says Markus Engerth, member of the Executive Board of STRABAG AG Austria.
